Dog Free Running Area
Meetings have been held every six to eight weeks since October 2009 with local dog owners looking at the provision of the dog run free area. This area has been created to give dogs a safe and secure area to exercise without owners fearing that the dog will stray into the road, pond or play areas. Dogs are allowed access to all park areas but will be required to be kept on a lead for their own safety and the safety of the many park users.
Community Arts Project
With work on the main construction having commenced in July 2010 a community arts project has been started. With workshops delivered throughout the build stage there will be something for everyone to get involved with. These workshops are for all generations both looking forward to what the project will mean to the future users, but also backwards looking at the changes the park has gone through over the last two centuries. Ideas from the workshops will be included in the main building and around the park.
New Community Centre
There is a new community centre opening at the end of October 2011 in Orford Park. This community centre will provide various activities for all age groups, and will include:
- Kids clubs
- Youth clubs
- Martial arts
- Cheshire Dog School
The community centre will also provide public toilets for park users, and there will be a community cafe providing refreshments. The building will also be the home for the new park warden service.
