The partnership was developed in 2004 to work with other organisation to ensure winter wellbeing messages and information was disseminated to older people.
The aim of the Winter Warm Campaign is to:
- Reduce unplanned hospital admissions in relation to winter related ill health
- Increase the number of older people’s take up of the flu and pneumococcal vaccinations
- Increase awareness of benefits, such as warm front grants and unclaimed benefits
- Reduce health inequalities
- Reduce the risk of falls
- Reduce isolation and depression
- Increase social inclusion
- Increase quality of life
The campaign provides
- A number of information days across the borough for both older people, their carers and family members including health and social care workers
- Opportunities for people aged 65+ to have their flu vaccination in a community venue
- Winter health checks for older people attending the community event
- Identify and train a number of older people to become Health Ambassadors to deliver key messages to older people in the community
- Appropriate winter health information
